ACM - Aluminium Composite Material

The combination of plastic (polyethylene) and aluminum allows, due to the low weight, much easier processing and plate handling than with a solid aluminum plate of equal thickness. This makes the material suitable for many applications, especially in the advertising and construction industry.

What are the main properties of Aluminium Composite?

The combination of aluminum and polyethylene, also known as aluminum composite or Alu/PE for short, creates a strong, stiff and relatively light sheet material, which is known in the market as Vibond, Dibond or Alupanel.

Aluminum composite is corrosion and weather resistant and therefore extremely suitable for long-term outdoor applications, such as signs, signage and company name pylons.

The plate material can be digitally printed and screen printed very well. Drilling, sawing, milling and gluing are also no problems.

How do you identify Aluminium Composite?

Aluminum composite consists of two aluminum cover plates of 0.3 mm with a PE core in between. The strong, stiff and light plate is better known as Vibond, Dibond or Alupanel.

Plate variants are also available under the brand name Vibond Lite, where the two aluminum cover plates are only 2 mm thick.

The aluminum cover plates can be finished in different ways, e.g. glossy white or colored, silver metallic or brushed. Various gloss percentages are also available, ranging from 35 to 80%.

Aluminum composite in 3mm thickness has a specific gravity of 1.27 g/cm 3 . In a 2mm thickness the density is 0.51 g/cm 3 .
